Materials

  • Identified pressed flowers or approved dried herbs
  • Heavy cardstock or sachet bag
  • Large tweezers
  • Glue dots or self-laminating sheet
  • Labels
  • Finished example

Safety first

Use only identified, non-toxic, fully dried materials. Check scent, pollen, and skin allergies. Adults manage cutting tools and small loose pieces.

Follow each student's IEP, health, feeding, allergy, behavior, and mobility plans.

Objectives by House

House 1

Students will explore one flower material and communicate a color, sensory, or keep/give choice.

House 2

Students will choose and place two materials to complete a gift with support.

House 3

Students will follow a visual craft sequence and check that the item is finished and labeled.

House 4 & 5

Students will plan, assemble, quality-check, and package a botanical gift with increasing independence.

Access supports

Communication Model five core words; accept speech, AAC, eye gaze, gestures, object choices, signs, and partner-assisted scanning.

Sensory Present one material at a time. Offer tools, gloves, observe-only, a scent-free choice, and a quiet break.

Motor Stabilize containers, pre-loosen parts, use adapted grips, and offer seated, standing, partner, or directing roles.

Learning Show the finished result, model first, use short visual steps, repeat, and record the least support needed.
