    Find mature seeds

    Look at a dry seed head or approved ripe pod.

    Collect

    Shake, pinch, scoop, or direct seeds onto a tray.

    Clean

    Separate seeds from stems, pods, and damaged pieces.

    Dry

    Spread seeds in a labeled breathable layer.

  5. 5

    Pack later

    Label the envelope with plant name, place, and year.

Materials

  • Verified mature seed heads or pods
  • Large trays and bowls
  • Tweezers or scoops
  • Breathable drying paper
  • Seed envelopes
  • Large-print labels

Safety first

Do not save moldy, diseased, unknown, invasive, or treated seeds. Reduce seed dust and use larger materials or contained trays when needed.

Follow each student's IEP, health, feeding, allergy, behavior, and mobility plans.

Objectives by House

House 1

Students will attend to or explore a seed head and participate in one collection action.

House 2

Students will sort seed/debris and place seeds in a labeled drying area.

House 3

Students will follow collect, clean, dry, and label steps with a visual sequence.

House 4 & 5

Students will process a verified seed batch and record plant name, source, year, and storage location.

Access supports

Communication Model five core words; accept speech, AAC, eye gaze, gestures, object choices, signs, and partner-assisted scanning.

Sensory Present one material at a time. Offer tools, gloves, observe-only, a scent-free choice, and a quiet break.

Motor Stabilize containers, pre-loosen parts, use adapted grips, and offer seated, standing, partner, or directing roles.

Learning Show the finished result, model first, use short visual steps, repeat, and record the least support needed.
